SPRIG STUDIO
Prepare product photos for reliable spreadsheet matching
Reliable matching begins with filenames and a small test batch. Prepare three products first, then bring in the rest of your collection.
1. Give each product a stable, unique SKU
Keep identifiers such as 001 as text in your spreadsheet so leading zeros survive export. Avoid reusing a SKU for another product. Stable SKUs connect this campaign with future comparisons.
2. Use explicit filenames when you can
In your product sheet, set image_filename to the photo's actual filename, for example cedar-8oz.jpg. Keep the spelling and extension consistent. Name images distinctly: front.jpg repeated in several ZIP folders can produce an ambiguous match.
If you rely on SKU matching instead, confirm the chosen image after importing. Automatic matching is a starting point; the preview is where you verify the association.
3. Prepare the photo itself
Choose a clear product photo with consistent lighting and room around the object. The studio fits the full image into its photo area without cropping. Changing the canvas background does not remove or recolor the background already inside your source photo.
For jewelry, inspect whether the photo shows one item or a pair. For candles, compare the jar size and label. For gifts, check whether accessories in the photo are actually included.
4. Import and resolve warnings
Upload CSV or Excel and a ZIP of images, map your columns, then fix missing photos, duplicate SKUs and ambiguous matches. Preview every product before generating. A valid filename alone does not prove the photo depicts the correct product.
5. Try a complete example
Download a three-product candle CSV and its matching photo ZIP. These contain fictional products and original illustrations. Use them to learn the workflow, then replace them with photos you have permission to use.
